When do the CMS annual accreditation requirements take effect?
January 1, 2026. Providers with existing 3-year cycles transition when their current cycle expires. New accreditations after 1/1/2026 are immediately subject to annual resurvey.
Can I still use paper-based compliance systems?
Technically yes, but realistically no. With unannounced annual surveys, you need to be audit-ready 365 days a year. Paper creates too much risk of missed deadlines and lost documents.
